Adrem, as a consortium leader, contributes to the implementation of one of the most ambitious projects to modernize the distribution network in the region, carried out in Butoiești commune (Mehedinti County). The project is carried out by our partner, Distribuție Energie Oltenia, and is financed by non-reimbursable European funds. Its goal is to transform the energy infrastructure into a more efficient, safer system and prepared for the challenges of the future.
Large-scale works in the Buicești area
One of the key stages of the implementation took place recently in the Buicești area, where, for three days, our teams, in permanent contact with Distribuție Oltenia experts, carried out complex modernization works on two electrical circuits powered by PTA Buicești 2.
With the participation of over 24 electricians, the intervention included the replacement of the TYIR type twisted-pair conductors, considered undersized compared to the current needs, the reconfiguration of the circuits by sectioning the overhead networks and the installation of a new Concrete Envelope Transformer Substation (PTAB – 160 kVA). In parallel, the poles with structural cracks or with the load moment exceeded were replaced, the inclined poles were corrected, and the grounding sockets were rebuilt to achieve a dispersion resistance between 4 and 10 ohms, according to the technical regulations.
A strategic infrastructure project for Mehedinti County
The intervention in Buicești is part of an extended project of Distribuție Oltenia, which targets the entire Butoiesti commune. The objective: to transform an old network into a modern, automated infrastructure, ready for the integration of new consumers and for the decentralized energy future. The project involves:
• Modernization of 51 km of medium voltage network (overhead and underground);
• Modernization of 49.5 km of low voltage network;
• Installation of 24 transformer substations (7 completely new, 5 transformed into PTAB and 12 modernized);
• Re-equipping the Strehaia 110/20 kV transformer substation, including the installation of a new 25 MVA transformer and a null treatment point;
• Complete integration of the electrical infrastructure into SCADA/ADMS;
• Installation of more than 1,500 smart meters, as well as 24 balance meters with telemetering;
• Expansion of the communication network by installing over 85 km of fiber optics.
Why is this project important?
Through this modernization program, the local energy infrastructure becomes significantly more robust and efficient. Technical losses and operating costs are reduced, supply reliability is improved, and the capacity to intervene in the event of a breakdown increases due to digitalization. Moreover, the network becomes ready for the integration of new consumers, including prosumers, and for the expansion of the communication infrastructure, thus facilitating the development of the community in step with current energy requirements.
We want to actively contribute to the achievement of these strategic objectives, and we believe that the efforts consolidated in this project demonstrate our commitment to a safer, more efficient and more sustainable distribution system.
We thank our colleagues in the field for their professionalism proven every day and the partners from Distribuție Energie Oltenia for the implementation of such projects and the sustained collaboration. Such initiatives become possible only through a joint effort.
Stay tuned – we’ll be back soon with new updates from the field!
